Learn in School
Our Focus
Ensuring scholars have what they need to succeed
The Promise Neighborhood is proud to partner with 11 schools in the Promise Neighborhood, ranging from elementary to high school, to ensure that all scholars have the resources and support they need to succeed.
We understand how crucial it is for scholars to feel supported both inside and outside the classroom. We focus on building strong connections between schools and expanding access to tutoring, academic case management, and social-emotional learning programs.

In-School Scholar and family Resources
Through a partnership between John Boner Neighborhood Centers and Edna Martin Christian Center, Promise schools benefit from on-site support that helps bridge the gap between home, school, and community. Staff work directly with families to identify their needs and connect them with vital services such as housing, healthcare, education, and financial assistance. In addition, teams coordinate with local organizations to bring essential programs into the schools—including food access, after-school enrichment, and wellness initiatives. Together, these efforts ensure that students and families have the resources they need to thrive, both inside and outside the classroom.
Attendance Programs
Attending school regularly is one of the most important factors in a student’s academic achievement and long-term success. The IndyEast Promise Neighborhood supports strong attendance across all 11 Promise Schools by providing flexible funding that allows each school to implement strategies tailored to the needs of their students and families. This school-based approach empowers leaders to address the unique barriers to attendance in their communities—whether through outreach, incentives, transportation solutions, or family engagement efforts.
Food Pantries
Through partnerships with food banks in our area, the IndyEast Promise Neighborhood has been able to increase food access at some of our Promise Schools by opening a food bank on-site at the school. If you attend a Promise School, reach out to your Community School Coordinator to learn if you have an onsite food pantry.
Youth Advisory Board
