INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Thousands of Indiana families who rely on state support for early childhood education are facing uncertainty due to funding cuts.
Programs like the My Way Pre-K vouchers, which help families access pre-kindergarten education, are at risk as a result of these financial reductions. The cuts threaten the stability of services that many families depend on for their children’s early development.
“We have some amazing staff on both ends of the neighborhood, as far as Martino Brightwood and the Near East Side, who are working every day with families,” said Jamie Scott-Massie from the Edna Martin Christian Center, highlighting the dedication of the community partners involved.
The Indy East Promise Neighborhood, co-led by the Edna Martin Christian Center and the John Bonner Neighborhood Center, is a collaborative effort to support family and student success through a range of services. These services include early childhood education, home visitation, and support for prenatal mothers.
